Course Overview

This conference is designed for the unique needs of junior emergency medicine faculty and graduating residents and will address the essential elements necessary for success in an academic environment. Many faculty members struggle to develop needed personal, management, teaching and research skills required for successful career advancement. Success comes from acquiring these basic skills and developing a philosophical attitude of continued growth. This conference allows the attendee exposure to essential elements necessary for a productive career, as well as cultivating the continual learner's attitude for advancement. Experts specific to emergency medicine will discuss relevant issues such as mentoring, resident evaluation, effective teaching skills and research development. The conference has also been designed to provide ample opportunity to network with colleagues involved in academic emergency medicine.

Continuing Medical Education

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine, Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors, and the Association of Academic Chairs of Emergency Medicine. Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine, is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine, designates this educational activity for a maximum of 22.5 hours in category I credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
