Goals & Objectives:

  • Promote a culture of wellness among residents and educators
  • Develop best practices for resiliency and coping techniques during residency
  • Provide curricular resources for residency educators focusing on wellness and long-term career satisfaction
  • Establish a network for physicians and residents interested in advancing wellness in emergency medicine
  • Promote research and scholarship in wellness

Current Projects:

  • Mental Health Task Force: Develop pathways for early identification of mental health issues in residents and to provide easy access to education and resources for EM residents (tailored to each individual institution)
  • Resident Burnout Assessment Task Force: Define best method for monitoring burnout among residents nationally (best tools, scales, frequency of monitoring) [CLER DF pathway 5. ACGME req VI.A.6.e]
  • Resilience Resource Task Force: Compile resiliency and wellness resources for easy access for CORD members (articles, videos) from various programs or literature search as a potential "a la carte" menu for programs wanting to develop wellness curricula.  [Milestone 21. ACGME req VI.A.6.e]
