Web-Based Practice Tests Subscription Form
2007-2008 Question and Answer Bank
The Question Bank now has over 1,900 questions in it, covering most aspects of Emergency Medicine. The entire Question Bank is available on the CORD SharePoint website as a Word file. All Scored Online tests are available as pdf documents on the SharePoint site as well.
Here are the steps to subscribe for the 2007-2008 academic year:
Internet-Based Tests
CORD is pleased to offer Internet-based practice tests for individual residencies on a subscription basis. The website location is www.emtests.com. There are Practice and Scored tests available, covering the entire range of Emergency Medicine. The cost is $150 for each residency, and subsidizes the cost of a server for this purpose. Once a residency has subscribed, each resident is given an ID number and unique password by the program itself.
There are two kinds of tests, Practice Tests and Scored Tests. For the 2007-2008 academic year, Practice Test results and confirmation WILL NOT be sent to the residency. If you need confirmation that a Practice Test was taken you can check the Test Results area with your residency ID and residency password. Scored Tests will be reformatted, with predetermined difficulty level and validity, based on the individual statistics that were generated for each question in the last 2 years. The residency will continue to receive the entire test and summary for each resident. The resident will not receive ANY feedback for Scored Tests.
How To Use the Question Bank to Make Tests
To make a test for your residents, there are three possible approaches. The first is to use one of the preformatted tests located on the test bank. However, these tests are the same as the scored online tests. The test bank consists of preformatted tests in Adobe Reader pdf format. Simply choose a test based on topic and number of questions. Then print out the test and response form. A test with the correct answers is also included. The second way of making a test is to search the Question Bank in Word format. This is somewhat cumbersome, and requires copying and pasting, and then formatting the test itself. The third way is to purchase LXR-Test software, a commercial testing software product. The Question Bank has been formatted in LXR-Test format. Each question is characterized by Core Content and key words. It is easy to select questions on a specific topic, and then print out a test. Once the test has been given, the software can be used to score the tests, giving a resident a breakdown of their correct and incorrect answers, as well as comparing them to how others did on the same test. More information on LXR-Test is available at www.lxrtest.com
