Residency Administration Fellowship Information

CORD is pleased to announce the launch of the Residency Administration Fellowship (CORD RAF). This year-long course will combine in-person and asynchronous experiences for faculty to learn more about the nuts and bolts of program leadership.

Topics Include:

  • Designing a New Residency Program
  • Residency Program Finance
  • Legal Issues
  • Responding to AFIs and other interactions with the ACGME
  • Leadership and Working as a Team

OVERALL Goal: To provide in-depth education on the administrative, legal and accreditation aspects of running an Emergency Medicine residency program.

OVERALL Objectives:

  1. Define the job of an Assistant Program Director
  2. Understand the ACGME EM Specialty Specific Program Requirements
  3. Demonstrate facility with program finances
  4. Describe how to approach crises in residency management
  5. Develop a plan for career advancement
  6. Develop leadership and management skills

Any current CORD faculty member representative or CORD fellow member representative is welcome to apply, whether you currently are in residency leadership or seeking to make that transition. 

The course consists of the following 3 in-person sessions:

  • CORD 2020 Academic Assembly - Pre-Day, March 7, 2020 
  • ACEP 2020 - Pre Day, October 25, 2020 (Potential date subject to change)
  • CORD 2021 Academic Assembly - Pre Day, April 10, 2021

Asynchronous discussion through a web platform will occur between these meetings at monthly 2 hour sessions. The schedule for monthly sessions will be determined by the most popular date based on registrants' availability. 

The course is $1500 per person, and applications require a current CV, Statement of Interest and a Letter of Support from your current chair or chief. If you are currently in residency leadership or a fellow, also include a letter of support from your current program director.
