Reasons for wanting to join the CORD Board of Directors & Opinions and Priorities for the Board:CORD has always seemed like a home to me, a place where educators can find innovative information and support. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors since 2020.  Who’d have known that a global pandemic would only be the start to a number of widespread challenges facing our specialty in recent years. Serving in a leadership position during such challenging times has pushed me to think even more critically, creatively and collaboratively about issues our organization and our members face both big and small.  I am more motivated than ever to continue to want to serve in a leadership role for CORD in order to continue working collaboratively with other organizations to find solutions to some of the most pressing issues facing emergency medicine educators and learners, to provide evidence to justify educator needs to regulatory bodies so that we may provide the best education to our learners, and to continue to support our community through innovation and the development of evidence-based resources and faculty development.  I possess excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills which will make me well-suitedto the position of Secretary/Treasurer.   I believe these skills and my attention to detail can assist the Board of Directors in making sound decisions in these times
of financial uncertainty. I am immensely proud to be part of the CORD community and I would like to continue to work with the great minds of the CORD membership and leadership to shape emergency medicine at the national level.

Special Skills, talents, perspectives that you would like to share:I possess excellent project management skills, allowing me to execute large scale projects involving multiple stakeholders successfully. I have a strong background in education research and scholarship which I can use to inform policies and practices in medical education that are aligned with education theory and evidence-based methods. Additionally, I have a passion for mentoring and developing others and bringing collaborative groups together to achieve greater goals. Finally, and specifically relevant to the role of Secretary/Treasurer, I have expertise in excel and analytical software.

History of Program Leadership Experience:  I am currently an Associate Program Director and have had the pleasure of serving in this role for 9 years across 2 institutions. As an APD, in addition to program administration and mentoring of residents, I have also helped our program transition from a 3 to 4 year format, overhauled our didactic curriculum, and increased our resident scholarship. I also serve as core faculty in our medical education fellowship. In addition to graduate medical education, I am active in undergraduate medical education program leadership and am currently a Vice Chair for the Acute Care College at the David Geffen school of medicine at UCLA as well as the Director of Discovery, which is a course that comprises the majority of the third year of the medical school curriculum. Finally, I have also served as Interim Clerkship Director.

Leadership Experience:I am currently an Associate Program Director, Vice Chair of the Acute Care College, Educator for Excellence, and Director of Discovery (course that comprises the majority of the 3rd year of medical school), at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. I have had the opportunity to serve CORD as a Member-at-Large for the CORD Board of Directors and CORD Cares Foundation, Director of the MERC at CORD program, Member of the MERC at CORD Advisory Board, Research and Scholarship Pillar Lead, Vice Chair, and Chair of the CORD Academy for Scholarship, and Chair of the Education Research Consult Service. Additionally, I have served as a member of the Steering Committee for ARMED MedED and Vice Chair of the Education Committee for SAEM. My other national leadership experience includes serving as the Director of Scholarship and a Member of the Executive Board for Foundations of Emergency Medicine.

Knowledge or experience with large/complex organizations or other non-profits beyond CORD:Beyond my work with CORD, I have also had extensive involvement with Foundations of Emergency Medicine where I have served as the Director for Scholarship and a member of the Executive Board. In this capacity, I helped ensure that the organization was meeting its overall goals and objectives. I also helped create and execute scholarly work for the organization and mentor personnel in other branches of the organization in successfully completing scholarly work. I have helped create and implement a novel advanced faculty development course in education research, ARMED Med Ed, through SAEM and also served on the Steering Committee for this program. I have also worked with SAEM through multiple committees including the Education and Faculty Development Committees. At my institution, (a large, complex university system) I have served in several leadership roles and have helped create, implement, and evaluate a new curriculum for the third year at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
