Reasons for wanting to join the CORD Board of Directors & Opinions and Priorities for the Board: I am grateful to be a member of the CORD community since starting as PD 8 years ago. I currently serve as Co-Chair of the Match Task Force. This group includes representatives from major stakeholders across EM. Together we have worked diligently to address concerns of program leaders seeking to recruit new residents in the face of unprecedented challenges. We worked on an advising guide and distributed it Dean’s offices across the country in order to provide factual information for advisors to use when speaking with potential EM applicants. We also completed a program level needs assessment which will be used to guide our efforts going forward and will be published soon.

The most pressing issue facing the Task Force is to better understand applicants’ decision-making process and to reassure and excite them about EM. We’ve completed a nationwide survey of EM applicants which will shed light on the 2023 Match and how to proceed. This year we started #BestJobsInEM, an ongoing campaign designed to showcase graduates’ fellowship and job success and reassure potential applicants about the job market in EM. We’ve also started #WhyILoveEM as a way of showing some of the many positive things individuals in our specialty are doing.

I look forward to continuing to work with a tremendous group of people to tackle this issue. I am confident we are going to emerge better and stronger. Thank you for your consideration. It would be a privilege to serve the wonderful group that is the CORD community.
