ResidencyCAS 2025: Emergency Medicine Application Update
Beginning with the 2025–2026 application cycle, Emergency Medicine (EM) residency applications will transition to ResidencyCAS. All applicants to EM residency programs, including those applying to combined programs such as EM/IM or EM/Anesthesiology, must register with both ResidencyCAS and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
Important Notes:
All references to MyERAS in existing advising materials should now be considered outdated and replaced with ResidencyCAS. While the platform has changed, the content and formatting requirements remain largely consistent, except for geographic preferencing. We recommend minimal adjustments to EM-specific advising for this transition. More detailed information on the whys and the impact of this transition on students can be found in the EMRA Hangouts Webinar and the EMRA Transition to ResidencyCAS 2025 FAQ sheet.

The residency application process has undergone major changes in recent years, including Step 1 becoming pass/fail, updated CORD guidance on away rotations, the introduction of preference signaling, and the shift from MyERAS to ResidencyCAS. We’ll update individual guides to reflect these changes, though core advising principles will remain the same. Updated guides will be posted as they become available.
