Reasons for wanting to join the CORD Board of Directors & Opinions and Priorities for the Board: My long-standing commitment to the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine (CORD), from abstract reviewer to committee chair, has provided me with an understanding of the organization's operational framework and strategic needs. If elected as a Member-at-Large, I will leverage my longstanding experience in graduate medical education, in curriculum development, and in collaborating with educational leaders on a national level to advance CORD’s mission.
My primary goal is to serve as an active liaison, ensuring the diverse perspectives of our membership directly inform the Board's agenda and strategic planning. Having been a part of residency leadership teams at three major academic centers in different parts of the country, I have firsthand experience with the challenges and opportunities our members face. I plan to use this insight to champion initiatives that provide tangible resources, such as the curricular toolkits I helped develop, to support program leaders in areas like competency-based assessment, faculty development, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
Furthermore, I will dedicate my time to supporting the President's vision and ensuring the continuity of CORD's strategic plan. My background in redesigning residency curricula with a focus on active learning and my involvement in creating national guidelines on recruitment strategies for underrepresented minorities in medicine will be instrumental in advancing CORD's educational and equity-focused objectives. I am eager to bring my collaborative spirit and dedication to academic excellence to the Board, working to implement meaningful change that empowers our members and strengthens our specialty.
