Hashem Hraky, DO

aliciameadorLeadership Experience: I have been actively involved in recruitment for the GW EM residency program. I served as a core member for the Recruitment Committee from AY 2023-2025 participating in interview days, applicant review, and program branding. For the AY 2025-2026 recruitment cycle, I now serve as Recruitment Committee Co-Director, overseeing interview day operations, resident engagement, and outreach efforts.

From AY 2024-2025, I served as the Secretary for the GWU Hospital House Staff Council, representing all GME trainees across specialties. In this capacity, I worked closely with Hospital and GME leadership to advocate for resident needs related to education, workflow, wellness and helped coordinate system wide initiatives to improve communication and trainee experience.

Beginning AY 2025, I assumed the role of Lead Coordinator for the GW EM Mentor-Mentee Program for visiting medical students. I developed a structured advising system for EM-bound rotators, organized academic and social engagement opportunities.

What Dr. Hraky will bring to the CORD Board of Directors:

During my time at GWU, I have been strongly engaged in medical education at multiple levels, with a focus on hands-on procedural teaching, structured mentorship and curriculum development.

I routinely supervise and teach off service interns and medical students on clinical shifts, but I also take an active role in structured educational sessions. I have led multiple skills workshops for medical students, including suturing sessions, IV placement nights, ultrasound IV nights and central line workshops. I also participate in recurring simulation-based sessions for medical students including airway instruction and critical care simulations.

Beyond live teaching, I contributed to the development of educational materials and curricula. I had helped redesign the GWEM Toxicology rotation to improve structure, establish learning objectives and provide more hands on experience. I have also co-hosted educational podcasts that discuss various clinical topics in EM and provides accessible teaching for students and trainees. I have also delivered didactic presentations including a Clinical Case Presentation on Tumor Lysis Syndrome, an Evidence Based Medicine Presentation on When CT is Indicated Prior to LP, and a lecture on recognizing and managing victims of human trafficking.

Finally, mentorship has been a core component of my educational involvement. As mentioned, I lead our Away Rotator Mentor-Mentee Program. As such, I coordinate resident mentorship, advising sessions, and educational resources for visiting students. In addition, I participate heavily in recruitment and orientation activities, interview and evaluate applications and engage in discussions that shape educational priorities for incoming trainees.
