Reasons for wanting to join the CORD Board of Directors & Opinions and Priorities for the Board:It has been a privilege to be a member of the CORD community for the last several years. Through my involvement and leadership in different groups, including ASC-EM, the Medical Education Fellowship Community of Practice, and the Academic Assembly Planning Committee, I have been able to work alongside numerous members of our organization in different educational spheres. We have seen significant change in our specialty in recent years. The day-to-day demands of our departments have necessitated new and innovative approaches to resident education. We have responded to student and medical school perception and concern for the specialty, reinvigorating our national image and message. And we face even more change in the coming years as we tackle implementing competency-based education, train for a new certifying exam, address proposed programmatic curricular changes, and continue to have an eye towards the health and well-being of every member of our community. My goal as a Member-At-Large on the CORD Board of Directors would be to provide a voice for our community and to act as a liaison between our members and organizational leadership. My extensive background in undergraduate medical education as a Clerkship Director for 8 years, my diverse involvement in graduate medical education as a career academician, and my numerous leadership roles and involvement throughout CORD lend me a unique voice and perspective to represent our community in this leadership role. I would like to see us not only respond to the changes at hand, but to continue to plan for the future.
