- Abstracts should represent original research or educational innovations that have not been published or presented in manuscript or abstract form at a national or international scientific meeting or published in a peer-reviewed journal prior to the first day of the CORD Academic Assembly. Only abstracts submitted using the CORD online abstract submission form will be considered. Original abstracts presented at SAEM regional meetings and the national SAEM Annual Meeting are excluded from this rule.
- If identical abstracts are accepted at two meetings (in violation of the above stipulation) then one must be withdrawn and CORD staff must be notified. If acceptance of a previously presented abstract is discovered prior to presentation, it will be withdrawn and acceptance of future abstracts will be jeopardized. If a dual presentation of identical abstracts is discovered after the presentation, the acceptance of future abstracts may be jeopardized and any award associated with the abstract will be withdrawn.
- Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present it at CORD Academic Assembly if accepted. Failure to present, if not justified, will jeopardize future acceptance of abstracts for CORD.
- Abstracts accepted for presentation at CORD Academic Assembly will be published in the WestJEM CORD Abstract Supplement. (Except those abstracts that are presented at the SAEM Annual Meeting. These will be published by SAEM)
- Research abstracts for which data is not yet available or Educational Innovation abstracts that have not been implemented or piloted will NOT be accepted.
- Authors must certify that the research has been approved by an Institutional Review Board or an animal care committee. CORD reserves the right to request documentation of IRB approval. Failure to provide documentation may result in the disqualification of the abstract.
- If accepted for presentation, the presenting author must register to attend the meeting and must remit the appropriate registration fee.
- All decisions of the Program Committee are final. Due to a large number of submissions and the very short turnaround time, CORD will not consider requests for appeals nor can CORD provide specific feedback to authors. Abstract decision letters will be sent via email to the corresponding authors no later than January 19, 2022. Please ensure that the email provided is accurate, as all correspondence will be sent via email. Please do not contact the CORD office prior to January 19, 2022, to inquire about abstract acceptance decisions.
- Abstracts are limited to 2,000 characters, including spaces. This limit is a total character limit of all sections combined. This does not include the title or authors' names and affiliations. Please check that you have all the authors' names and titles spelled as they would like to see them in print. The CORD system is an all-at-once submission process. You must be prepared to fill out the entire two (2) page online submission form in one connection. Review your submission very carefully. Accepted abstracts will be published exactly as they are received. It is the authors’ responsibility to submit abstracts free of typographical or other errors, no copy editing will be performed.
- Up to two additional tables or images will be accepted. The abstract summary character count is not affected by the inclusion of these tables/images. For optimum publishing quality, tables/images should be high-resolution JPEG images.
- Authors should not be identified in any way on the page containing the abstract.
- We have launched NEW submission software. Everyone will need to create an account just for your abstract submissions. This is separate from your CORD account.
Definition of Innovations: Authors are invited to share innovative methodologies and exchange ideas to improve graduate and undergraduate education. We encourage submissions that represent works in progress, recent innovations, established projects, or components of medical school or residency curricula which have been implemented or piloted. Please Note: This category is not for the presentation of research conducted using innovation.
