What is EMARC?The Emergency Medicine Association of Residency Coordinators (EMARC) is an organization structured within the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine
(CORD), established to provide educational opportunities and professional development for residency coordinators.
How do I join?Residency Coordinators from programs with current membership in CORD are eligible to participate (the membership). You are automatically enrolled as listed on your CORD
membership enrollment/renewal.
Is only one coordinator allowed to join per program?No. Membership is not limited. Anyone working with your program can join EMARC.
Is there a cost associated?The cost is included in your program's annual CORD membership dues.
What's expected of me?Nothing, except chiming in on discussions of interest.
What's in it for me?Connecting with others who are doing the same thing you do, day in and day out. You may find a mentor - someone you can call when you get stuck or just need a quick
question answered. You'll also find opportunities for professional development, e.g. TAGME certification and other opportunities to contribute to the specialty.
Are there meetings to attend?EMARC has a track at the annual CORD Academic Assembly, specifically geared toward coordinators. There are typically 80-100 coordinators in attendance. Conference
content is developed by EMARC members. There is also a new coordinator workshop held the day prior to the CORD-AA.
Is there a forum for communicating with the group?Besides attending the annual CORD-AA, you will be enrolled on the EMARC Community. This is our forum for sharing information and learning how other coordinators handle issues
that may arise for you.
How can I get involved?Attend the CORD-AA and meet the other members of EMARC. In particular, attend the New Coordinator Workshop, which is presented one day prior to the CORD-AA. Sign up
for one of the committees as described in the EMARC Guidelines.
