Current & Past Supplement Issues

We invite you to submit a manuscript to the CDEM/CORD Special Issue in Educational Research and Practice of the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine: Integrating Emergency Care with Population Health (WestJEM)WestJEM (www.westjem.com) is indexed in MEDLINE with full text immediately open access on PubMed and PubMed Central. The journal has collaborated with the Clerkship Directors in Emergency Medicine and the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine to publish four previous annual Special Issues in Educational Research and Practice welcomes your submissions for the fifth issue in the areas below:

  • Original Research (Quantitative and Qualitative) – 4000 word limit
  • Brief Research Report – 1500 word limit
  • Systematic Review – 3000 word limit
  • Educational Advances (Scholarship of integration, application or teaching) – 2000 word limit
  • Brief Educational Advances (Innovations) for on-line version – 1000 word limit
  • Editorial and Commentaries are by invitation only

**Word limit does not include abstract, legends, or references

The WestJEM site is accepting submissions now.  We are able to add videos, podcast, and supplemental files to submissions (at eScholarship and PubMed Central/PubMed).  So please consider how these innovations can add to your work.

Please submit your manuscript to https://westjem.com/submit-manuscript by June 15, 2019. The article processing fee for accepted manuscripts to the education supplement is covered through the sponsorship of CORD and CDEM.

  • Reference the WestJEM submission guidelines prior to submission: https://westjem.com/submission-guidelines.
  • Please indicate in your cover letter that the submission is intended for the CDEM/CORD 2019 Special Issue in Educational Research & Practice.
  • List "CDEM/CORD Special Issue in Educational Research and Practice" as the first line of the manuscript.
  • It is anticipated that accepted publications will be published in January of 2020.  All manuscripts will be published electronically and some in print to be mailed out.
  • WestJEM will notify authors of a first decision approximately 90 days from the June 15th, 2019 deadline. A rapid turnaround of revisions will be required within two weeks, to meet a September 30th deadline.
