CORD’s Statement on Current Events

CORD recognizes that recent events unfolding across the country, including those in Minnesota, have a real impact on the communities where our members live and work. For those in emergency medicine, these moments may further intensify the already significant demands of the profession including the emotional and moral strain associated with caring for individuals and communities affected by violence, fear, and uncertainty.

We want our members to know that we are aware of these challenges and the potential effects they may have on individuals and teams in both clinical and educational settings as well as on the delivery of safe, equitable emergency care. CORD remains firmly committed to fostering an environment rooted in respect, safety, and support for all.

We deeply appreciate the professionalism, resilience, and dedication our members demonstrate every day, particularly during times of uncertainty. We also recognize that repeated exposure to community trauma and social unrest can place significant strain on individual well-being, education, and team functioning. We encourage everyone to prioritize community and care—for ourselves and for each other—as we navigate changing and difficult circumstances together with compassion, collegiality, and a shared commitment to our patients, our learners, and one another.
